I found an affordable online program that helped my son read in less than a year! Click'n Read from Click'n Kids taught my son phonetics and reading. It was amazing!!! And we did not do all the required offline reading (I had just had a baby). Most days I have him write what he learned to read to help remember and practice writing skills. He would not learn from me but the computer he did willingly. I learned phonetics from this too! LOL It took him from Kindergarten to Third grade level reading - in 15 minutes a day. I cannot say enough great things about this program!!!!! Easy to use, can repeat lessons as much as desired and NOT expensive AT ALL!!!

I can't thank you enough for this site. I no longer feel alone trying desperately to help my daughter with her MERLD. She was diagnosed at age 5, and at age 12, still struggles. I thought for years she was autistic, and others tried to convince me that she was. Her school and pediatrician have provided little help in understanding this disability. It has been a struggle since 1st grade, and I have fought and fought to get her the proper intervention that she needs. I really appreciate Alexandra sharing her experience. It helps me to better understand my sweet daughter, Wish I could get some teachers to understand MERLD.

I have a nine year old with MERLD. She still exhibits problems of peer relationships. She also has Synsory issues to go along with the MERLD. She has no behavior problems in school, however she has a hard time learning. She is currently in OT and Speech Therapy. At home she is defiant when overwhelmed and will have melt downs. Some of the melt downs are sensory and some are just from to much going on. Her doctors say she is holding it in all day long and release it when they get to their comfort zone. I also would like to know if any of you are still experiencing bed wetting.

Hi . My son just turned 3 y & has been diagnosed with Merld 8 months ago , his dr said it's caused by his casein intolerance which it came out positive after we run tests. Anyone with same issue ?
Now since we started the academic year he has been in & out of 3 nurseries as his behavior was too much for them to handle . Won't stay in class & do what he is asked though with me home he does or when he doesn't get me I guide him through it & he does it.
At nursery all he wants to do is run around , lay down on the floor . But mostly when he can't communicate he bites. Throws a Tantrum . Anyone been through this ? Any ideas to solve this issue?thanks a lot .

I'm so excited to find your site. My 4 year old son seems to have what you had described. Which then also translated to his social intelligent. He doesn't seems to play well with other kids in his preK class due to him lack of communications. So he ended up playing independently. I put him he Pre-K is to learn, but more importantly to learn how socialize with other kids. I'm actively seeking for therapy to help improve his language development. If anyone's kids were successful treated, please enlighten me. I feel so helpless and heartbroken.

I dont understand much about the difference between ADHD, MERLD, autism.. but I know one thing.. my child suffers from something serious.. He is not like other kids of his age.. he does not understand what I tell him. THen how can he reply? he is running all the time, picking up this or that, throwing it all around.. He understands only simple commands, that too, with many repetitions.. My family had many genetic problems.. my brother has schrezophrenia.. i thought atleast next generation would be fine.. but now i understand.. My genes are worst ones.. We dont have any right to marry or have kids.. If we try we will make only bad kids.. Society will never accept us.. I dono why God is testing us so much..
